West Side Community Services Reception
Duties: Volunteer responsibilities include answering the phone/directing calls, signing guests in and out of the building, managing the front door, and responding to general inquiries.
Who you’ll work with: WSCS staff, partners, program participants, and community members.
Minimum time commitment: Reception volunteers should be willing to commit to at least one shift per week.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Great opportunity for: Individuals who love to work with the community and are comfortable answering phones.
West Side Seniors Special Events Crew
Duties: Volunteer responsibilities include assisting with set-up, check-in, serving, and more at our special events for older adults. Annual events include the Mother’s & Father’s Day brunch, the end of year celebration, the summer picnic, and Café del Sol events. Events are held at WSCS and other locations throughout the community.
Who you’ll work with: WSCS staff and older adult program participants
Minimum time commitment: Each event is typically 3-5 hours in length.
Schedule: 2025 dates include May 8, June 6, and July 10.
Great opportunity for: Individuals who love to celebrate with older adults!
File clean-up and organizing
Duties: Volunteer responsibilities include sorting, categorizing, and labeling physical files; supporting the development of an easy-to-maintain filing system; assisting with scanning and saving key documents digitally (as appropriate); and collaborating with staff to ensure files are accessible and logically grouped.
Who you’ll work with: WSCS executive director
Minimum time commitment: Flexible, but the preference is for one individual to take this project on.
Schedule: Flexible.
